Integrating Repair into Product Design Education: Insights on Repair, Design and Sustainability

With the pressure of growing environmental problems, world is changing, and so paradigm design. Accordingly, calls for change in design education are increasing throughout literature day by day. As designers future, students must be prepared alternative scenarios. This paper provides insights into students’ learning outcomes competencies related to repair sustainability context an assignment that integrates education. has been part master’s degree course at Linköping University last 3 years. During these years, 52 projects, including a diverse range products, were developed. Aiming find out this process, focus group sessions conducted. result sessions, 12 developed, such as concepts brokenness, designed repair, repair-worthy objects. Findings show practices constitute complex sites learning, technical skill knowledge which could enable novice become competent circular value educators researchers, especially those concerned with economy, it can facilitate future attempts further integrate strategies
